Rotational Molding / Thermoforming
Rotational molding and thermoforming are significant processes for producing polymerparts, each with specific advantages and areas of application.
In rotational molding, powdered or liquid polymers are placed into a rotating and heated mold, allowing the material to evenly distribute on the walls and solidify. This process is particularly suitable for the production of seamless, hollow parts such as tanks, containers, or toys. It is also ideal for large-volume, complex geometries and is characterized by relatively low tooling costs.
Thermoforming, on the other hand, involves heating polymer sheets, which are then pressed or stretched into a mold to achieve the desired geometry. This method is ideal for producing thin-walled parts such as packaging or housings. It enables fast production at low costs and is particularly relevant in the packaging and consumer goods industries.
For rotational molding, various systems for uni- and biaxial rotation with different configurations are available. Additionally, the LKT is equipped with several systems for thermoforming processes.
